TALK Harry's Law (Give your review)

When I first started watching this show, honestly, I was bored. Unlike the previous reviewer, I didn't think there was anything groundbreaking about the first few episodes whatsoever. The plot for the pilot was incoherent and completely unrealistic. First Harriet is smoking pot in her million dollar patent law firm as if she's done it a hundred times before without consequence (sure, that could happen...). Then she's fired, not for smoking pot, but for not doing anything in months. Then a black guy attempting suicide falls on her from the top of a building. She's released from the hospital completely uninjured only to be struck by a car, landing on a mattress being taken out of a moving man. Still completely uninjured (they argue fate over and over and over!). Sure. That could happen...Like I said, unrealistic. However, the show eventually redeems itself as some of the more unlikely and childish plot lines are removed. These ridiculous scenes are then replaced by scintillating scenes such as a rapist getting nearly beaten to death by neighborhood thugs trying to protect their hood, Harriet arbitrating a gang war (I was biting my nails!) and over a dozen thugs ominously entering Harriet's office (don't worry, they were offering to donate a kidney for a post-gang member). All in all, this show went from one of the biggest duds I have ever seen to being one of my new favorite lawyer shows (Nothing can beat Suits or the Good Wife though, sorry!). Its definitely watchable and I would highly recommend it, just maybe not the first few episodes. |

Wow, great first episode. Ok, so it's another lawyer series. But this lady definitely gives a new perspective!!! And her fresh new partner very much underlines that. Kathy Bates portrays a bored corporate "patent" lawyer who's forced to make a sharp turn late in her career. She sets up shop in a "bad" neighbourhood. Her assistant portrayed by the adorable Brittany Snow, sells the fabulous shoes the previous tenant left, thus providing some cash-flow. Harry's Law firms first two cases are pretty ground breaking. Paul McCrane I'm pleased was in this episode and I hope to see him again as his character sparks with Kathy Bates'. I'm going to love watching this and am already looking forward to the next episode.
