Season 17 Quotes

17x05 - New Doctor in Town Season 17 / Episode 5: - New Doctor in Town

Kitty Russell: Living in Dodge has been the most rewarding experience of my life, but I've been so out of touch with modern medicine that when I arrived in Baltimore I felt like a schoolboy. I suddenly realized how little I know about medicine and how much has passed me by in the last twenty years... and that's why I've decided to stay on here at the university.

Newly O'Brien: This letter is the only way I know of to tell you my decision. I'll be gone from Dodge for a while. I don't know for how long, but it will not be forever. I will be back... and I'll think of you very often. I pray all of you will remember with affection, your old friend, Doc.
17x11 - Drago Season 17 / Episode 11: - Drago

Drago: He looks fine.
Dr. John Chapman: He is. He just started gettin' well right after you talked to him. You know, Drago, as a doctor it might help me if I knew what you said to him.
Drago: I just told him there weren't no catfish in heaven.

  • Episode 12 - When Matt rides into Dodge at the beginning of the show, he asks Festus to put his horse into a livery stall. Festus addresses the horse as "Buck". This line probably wasn't in the script, because "Gunsmoke" had a rule that horses didn't have names (based on real life).
  • Episode 15 - This show was filmed before "Gold Train: The Bullet", and actually was Milburn Stone's first work on the show after he recovered from heart surgery. For some reason, the premiere of this show was postponed a week and aired after Christmas.
  • Episode 13 - Goof (anachronisms): In a scene towards the end, BURLINGTON NORTHERN R.R. can be seen written across the locomotive tender. The BNRR was created in 1970 after a merger of four railroad lines (Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Seattle Portland & Spokane, and the Chicago Burlington & Quincy.
  • Episode 14 - Goof (revealing mistake): Although most of the outdoor scenes for "The Bullet" were shot in Arizona, during this segment Doc and Father Sanchez, each trying to boost their courage, stand in front of a really obvious painted backdrop and pretend they are outside the studio. (The only other outdoor scenes
