Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Juliette tells Hank and Nick that a scout bee will return to the hive and signal others to follow, bringing the others with it back to the source of food. In fact, scouts are capable of giving "directions" well enough that the scout bee need never return to the food source for the other bees to find it.
  • Goof (continuity error): Just prior to pulling into the light rail station the train travels across the frame, left to right. At this point, the train is yellow. The next shot is of the train stopping at the station, and it is all red.
  • Goof (factual errors): The beekeeper states that he was at a Howard Johnson's in Eugene. There is no Howard Johnson's in Eugene.
  • Goof (factual errors): When the detectives are in the morgue for the first time, Dr. Harper mentions that bees are part of phylum Anthropoda rather than the correct Arthropoda.
  • Goof (factual errors): The beekeeper says that it is a queen bee that lands on Grimm's hand when he is being questioned. But queen bees only leave their hives on two occasions: on their mating flights (when they get impregnated) and when a new queen takes some of the workers in a swarm to form a new hive. Neither case applies in this instance.

Trivia

  • Doug is wearing a shirt that has black and yellow lines on gray and white-ish base. His cell phone has a black-and-yellow shell. The queen is dressed all in black and yellow. All references to the colors of bees.
  • The basis for this episode and the opening quote come from "The Queen Bee."
