Summary: On the morning of her first day as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, Meredith Grey is running late as she recovers from a one-night stand and prepares for her first day. Meredith quickly befriends George O'Malley, who's quirky, yet lovable, Cristina Yang, a highly competitive woman, and Izzie Stevens, a model turned surgical intern. Each of the new interns get assigned to Dr. Miranda Bailey, who past interns have dubbed "the Nazi". Meredith's first patient, a young beauty pageant contestant, recently began having severe, life-threatening seizures and Meredith uncovers that she'll need brain surgery to save her life. However, things take a turn when the neurosurgeon, Dr. Derek Shepard, happens to be Meredith's one-night stand. He wants their brief relationship to progress into something more, but Meredith is firm on her stance - their relationship should remain strictly professional.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: When Alex Karev is being yelled at by the Chief, and Meredith corrects his diagnosis. One of the nurses, with the red hair appears in two places. She appears standing behind Alex and then behind Meredith in the doorway. It flashes back and forth with the nurse in two places at once.
CONT: When Izzie and the other interns are awaiting the helicopter on the hospital roof, you can see a corner of her face in a close-up shot that shows her wearing her black glasses. But in the previous and subsequent long shots she is not wearing the glasses.
CREW: When Meredith Grey spots Dr. Shephard and realizes her one night stand has already come back to haunt her, the camera man is visible in the glass panel next to her.
CREW: When Dr. Grey first sees Dr. Sheppard for the first time in the hospital, while she speaks to Dr. Bailey you can see the legs of the cameraman in the glass next to the door.
GEOG: When we see the chopper approaching Seattle Grace Hospital, the logo on the side of the building reveals the "hospital" is actually a local TV station.

TRIVIA

The cut scene of the sun rising in fast motion (midway through their 48 hour shift) is actually a shot of the sun setting in Norfolk, Virginia that is played in reverse to make it look like a sunrise. Look closely and you can see the cars are going backwards.
Every episode of the show is named after a famous song. "A Hard Day's Night" is a song by The Beatles.
The character Alex (Justin Chambers) wasn't in the original pilot, so his scenes were filmed later on and in re-shoots.
Dr Meredith Grey uses a Littmann Classic II SE, Dr Cristina Yang and Dr Isobel "Izzie" Stevens uses a Littman Master Classic II, Dr George O'Malley uses a Litmann Master Cardiology. In later seasons, Dr Preston Burke and Dr Yang uses a Littman Electronic Stethoscope Model 3000.
