Summary: Serena Van Der Woodsen has returned from boarding school mysteriously. Although welcomed by most, her ex-best friend, Blair Waldorf, is less then pleased to see Serena, the blond beauty who everyone will be looking at. Jealousy is only the beginning of the twisted social lives these teens live.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

PLOT: When Serena and Blair meet at the Palace bar on their first day back to school, Serena asks Blair how her mom is doing "with the divorce and everything". At this point in the story, Blair's parents are not divorced yet. Blair's dad asks for a divorce much later in the series (Thanksgiving of the 2nd season).
CONT: While talking to Nate in the park Chuck offers to take some of his mother's medicine. It is revealed later in the series that Chuck's mother died shortly after Chuck was born.
CONT: While Nate and Chuck are talking in the park, Nate's collar changes between under his bag strap to out from under his bag strap, in what should be 2 seconds, this happens several times.

TRIVIA

Was originally pitched as a feature with Lindsay Lohan as Blair Waldorf. When that fell through, its backers (who had the rights to the stories) approached Josh Schwartz about turning it into a series.
This is the only episode so far in the series that Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald ride a public bus to school, unlike the usual private limo ride.
Unlike the first book, which starts out with Blair talking to Isabel and Kati, the episode starts with Serena on the train back home.
The Constance Billard School for Girls is based on The Nightingale-Bamford School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of the books which the series is based on, attended this prestigious school.
