Episode Quotes

Will Schuester: I don't know if you guys really understand how much harder Artie has to work to keep up.
Artie Abrams: Preach!
Brittany: It's not that. It's most of us don't know how to bake. I find recipes confusing.
Sandy Ryerson: How bad is the pain?
Noah 'Puck' Puckerman: The doc said the shark fractured my spinal cord
Sandy Ryerson: This is why I don't go to the aquarium. Okay son. I'm going to give you the full amount I can. 20 cents on the dollar
Noah 'Puck' Puckerman: [voiceover] I don't put enough in to give you hallucinations or get you high. Just enough to give you a real case of the munchies.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (revealing mistake): Near the end of the "Defying Gravity" scene, Kurt visibly mouths the words to the "I'd sooner buy Defying Gravity" part wrong.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): In the scene where Kurt is rehearsing alone, attempting to sing a "high F", the notes he sings are not the same as those he plays on the piano. By the time he presses the "F" key on the piano, his voice is actually one and a half to two whole steps above the "F".
  • Goof (continuity error): When Artie is singing and dancing in the hall during the song "Dancing With Myself" his support wheels on the back of his wheelchair vanish and reappear between shots.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Artie is singing "Dancing by Myself" the trip leavers keep disappearing and reappearing.

Trivia

  • The storyline surrounding the song "Defying Gravity" was based on Chris Colfer's real-life high school experiences. He repeatedly asked to sing this song in the school talent show, but was always rebuffed because the song was written for a female character. After venting about this experience to Glee's creator/writer Ryan Murphy, it was written into the show.
  • Lea Michele apparently was prone to flipping the chair backwards and hitting her head. Amber Riley at one point caught the edge of ramp and fell off completely.
  • Some of the actors had trouble learning to distribute their weight properly, which resulted in some of the chairs being flipped backwards.
  • The ramps used for the Proud Mary number were originally built too steeply and had to be rebuilt.
  • Zach Woodlee has stated that the Proud Mary number was the scariest number to produce as of release.
