- The real name of That Guy (according to the writers) is Steve Castle.
- The "PlanEx" commercial is a parody of an Apple Mac commercial, directed by Ridley Scott in 1984, and directly references 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' by George Orwell.
- "Goldborg Bot-Mitzvah" is a play on "Goldberg Bar-Mitzvah". The Hebrew sign inside reads "Today you are a Robot" (although it has two spelling mistakes).
- In one scene Leela says "Toads the Wet Sproket". Toad the Wet Sprocket were a band in the 1990s.
