Trivia

Bender has a human heart in his compartment. This could be a reference to _"Futurama" Anthology of Interest II (2002)_ where Bender tells the group that he needs a human heart to pump blood out of his basement.
In keeping with the idea of artificial intelligence having the capacity for insanity, the subtle reference to the movie 2001 is the fact that the robot nut-house is called the "HAL institute."
