Summary: The Earth is conquered by flying brains with the power to turn normal human beings into idiots. On a distant planet, Leela learns that humanity's single hope is Fry -- the only being immune to the brains' moron-making power. It is explained that Fry has no Delta brain wave, which makes him immune to Brainspawn influence. This is later explained in future episodes in the fact that he became his own grandfather, meaning he cobbled together a random assortment of other brainwaves into a working mind.
The Nibblonians describe themselves as a fearsome, ancient and powerful race, even though they are weakened by petting, proved by the purring, have weapons called "cuddle bots," and have heart-shaped continents on their home world.
Maurice LaMarche provides the voice for the Big Brain. LaMarche previously voiced a character called The Brain in "Animaniacs" (1993) and "Pinky and the Brain" (1995).
