Episode Quotes

Sam Weir: Hey Harris, what kind of presents do you get Judith?
Harris Trinsky: Judith has very particular tastes. About the only thing she ever wants is scented oils and plenty of time with her man.
Daniel Desario: [about Ken dating Amy, who used to be a hermaphrodite] Does that mean you're gay?
Ken Miller: I don't know... does it?
Daniel Desario: [silence] I was joking.
Ken Miller: Oh...
Sam Weir: It's Cindy. She's kind of boring. It's weird hanging out with her friends. And, I mean, all she wants to do is make out and stuff.
Neal Schweiber: I'd kill to be that bored.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (anachronisms): During the scene where Bill, Sam, and Neil are playing "Mouse Trap" behind Sam is a stack of games. The bottom game is the original Trivial Pursuit "Genus Game - Master Edition." The show is set in the 1980-1981 school year. Trivial Pursuit was not sold until 1982.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Lindsay talks to Kim about being a member of "the Weir Party", Kim's hair changes from being behind ear and over the ear between shots.
  • Goof (anachronisms): In this episode, set in 1981, Harris quotes Yoda as saying "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." The quotation is from Return of the Jedi, which would not be released until 1983.
  • Goof (factual errors): "Hail to the Chief" is not the correct song to play for a Vice President. The correct song, or entrance march, for the Vice President is "Hail Columbia".
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Agent Meara is speaking to to Jeff Rosso, he says that there has never been an assassination attempt on a Vice President and that no one cares. This statement is incorrect as there have been at least two failed attempts. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a wider conspiracy and Vice President Andrew Johnson was also targeted. However, the man who was supposed to kill him, George Atzerodt, lost his nerve and didn't carry it out. Thomas Marshall, Vice President under Woodrow Wilson, was also the target of an assassination attempt in 1915. German-born Eric Muenter was opposed to the US supplying arms to the Allies during World War I and planted dynamite outside Marshall's office. The dynamite detonated prematurely and Marshall was unhurt.

Trivia

  • A deleted scene for this episode reveals that Mr. Kowchevski, the math teacher, is gay.
  • Ben Stiller agreed to make a guest appearance as a personal favor to Judd Apatow, in an attempt to improve the show's ratings. However, by the time the episode aired, the series had already been officially canceled.
  • The character played by Ben Stiller is named Agent Meara, which is most likely a reference to Stiller's mother, actress Anne Meara.
