Special Announcement

In an interview on February 17, 2011, with Entertainment Weekly, Nathan Fillion joked that: "If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it on my own, and distribute it on the Internet." This quickly gave rise to a fanbased initiative to promote a direct-to-DVD season 2 funded by pre-sales of the DVD.
On March 7, 2011, the organizers announced the closure of the project due to lack of endorsement from the creators.

Firefly was canceled by FOX after only 11 of 14 produced episodes were aired. Despite the series relatively short life span, it received strong DVD sales. In 2005, Universal released a movie Serenity, which takes place about two months after the events of the final episode.

NOTE: FOX originally aired the episodes of Firefly out of order, which almost certainly didn't help its viewing figures, and ultimately lead to its early cancellation. As such, our episode guides will reflect the correct viewing order.
