Summary: A hotel patron dies while staying at Fawlty Towers, and Basil mistakenly thinks that the death is because of some kippers that were "off". After a frantic rush to get rid of the incriminating evidence, he finds out that the kippers aren't at fault, but now Basil has to find a place to put the body until the undertakers come; unfortunately, eveywhere he puts it seems to upset the guests who are still in the land of the living.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: The couple leaves the bar before Basil, yet he somehow manages to overtake them by the time they reach reception.
FAKE: The wall wobbles when Basil runs up the stairs to check if Mr Leeman is dead.
FAKE: During the episode where the man dies, when he is being carried he is supposed dead, however he can be seen breathing at one point.
CONT: When Basil says goodnight to Mr Leamon and says that he'll be hoping to catch a few hours himself later that night, Basil looks at his watch. In the next shot he is pointing, not looking at his watch.
CONT: Not only do the room numbers change from episode to episode, the whole upstairs layout changes. For instance in the episodes "The Kipper and the Corpse" and "Communication Problems", at the top of the stairs there are three rooms on the right and a room on the left. Yet in "The Psychiatrist" the room on the left seems to become a broom cupboard where Basil spends the night after Sybil locks him out.

TRIVIA

Dr Price's line "I'm a doctor and I want my sausages!" is the favourite line of Andrew Sachs (II) in the whole show.
In a 1999 interview, John Cleese said that he had asked the manager of The Savoy what the worst problem was for a hotelier. The manager said it was dealing with guests that died. This gave rise to the episode "The Kipper and The Corpse". Cleese named the corpse "Mr. Leeman" in honor of the Savoy manager.
