Fawlty Towers (UK) - 02x03 Waldorf Salad

Summary: Some American guests give Fawlty Towers an international flair, but their demands for American food, including a Waldorf Salad, leave Basil wishing that they'd stayed on their side of the Atlantic. An attempt to get Terry the chef to stay and cook for them falls through, and Basil has to try to make dinner for the loudly complaining Americans. The other guests, seeing that the Americans are getting results, begin complaining as well, until Basil gives them all an ultimatum.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: In "The Waldorf Salad", during the conversation between Mr. Hamilton and Sybil after "Is your husband all right?" she takes out a pack of cigarettes, and one second later, after a shot of Mr. Hamilton, it's smoking in her hand.

TRIVIA

John Cleese said that he based Fawlty Towers on a real hotel that he and his fellow Pythons once stayed at. The owner said that Terry Gilliam was "too American" because he ate with his fork in the wrong hand. This may have inspired Basil's treatment of the American guest in this episode.
