Trivia Facts | Top Quotes | Goofs/Mistakes
  • Goof (continuity error): In the Winslows' home, guests would always walk out the front door and then to the left, but in the picture that is shown as the Winslows' home, there is no walkway to the left. There are a few stairs outside that lead up to the front door, but walking to the left after exiting through the front door would only lead into a wall.
  • Goof (continuity error): In the first episode, outside of the front door is a little hallway leading outside. From the second episode on, the hallway was a porch.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Carl knocks the shelf loose in the bathroom, he spills a large quantity of white powder on his sleeve. In the next shot, his sleeve is clean without even any residue.
  • Goof (continuity error): The burnt toast pops out of the toaster, then lands on the floor. In the next shot, it's on the table. When Carl sprays the toaster with the extinguisher, one piece goes to the edge of the table and one lands on the floor. They return to the table again in the next shot.
  • Goof (continuity error): The streak of filling that Rachel spills on Carl's apron suddenly changes from smooth to smeared.
  • Goof (continuity error): Just before Rachel says, "Let's not waste our energy fighting," there are only about three filled tarts on the the tray in front of her. After cutting to a close-up of Rachel saying the line, and then to a longer shot, almost all the tarts are filled without Rachel having had time to do so.
  • Goof (continuity error): In the classroom when Laura finds out who shes been partnered with in the marriage project she faints. Then Steve comes in and says "give my wife some air", in this shot Laura is shown passed out with her hands crossed on her stomach. In the next, her arms are stretched out on each side, not crossed.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): Eddie drives the car into the house. This is impossible as the exterior shot shows that there are stairs leading up to the front door.
  • Goof (continuity error): During dinner, a bottle of steak sauce moves around between shots.
  • Goof (continuity error): The exterior shot of the cattle car (an obvious model) does not match interior shots. There is no lantern light visible from the outside; the door has vertical slats outside and horizontal inside; the side slats are open all the way down outside while the bottom half are sealed off inside.
  • Goof (factual errors): Carl's police attire (both his patches and badge) are not the ones of the Chicago Police Department. Carl's patches are generic with 'police department' on them. Actual CPD patches are white and octagon shaped and say 'Chicago Police'. His badge is a generic oval shape style like the ones of LAPD. Real CPD badges are 5-point silver stars.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Carl takes Steve's place in the pool game at the end of the episode, the balls are placed differently when Carl says he'll take over to the point where he starts playing.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Estelle takes the cue from Carl the 1 and 5 are near the cue ball. When she makes the shot the balls are gone.
  • Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Carl and Eddie stop walking on the ice,just below their waists you can see where the wall met with the ground that shows the mountain background for the lake.
  • Goof (factual errors): Carl and the family are reading a vacation brochure in the living room during a rain storm. The roof begins leaking and water starts dripping on the brochure. This is impossible because the house is a two story. The leaking roof would drip the water on the floor of the 2nd story. Also when Eddie falls through the roof, he would not have landed on the couch, because again, it's a 2 story house.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Carl comes into the house filming with the video camera, he is videotaping where he puts his police bag it shows on the camera that the door is open by the bag even though he closed it as he came through the door.
  • Goof (continuity error): Steve Apparently orders Chinese food in the evening when he's on the roof just when snow starts falling, but since he did not have a cell phone with him or Chinese menu there's no way he could have called the restaurant and placed an order without getting off the roof.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Carl brings Estelle down the aisle, no one is standing for the bride.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): When Steve was trying to stop Laura and Myra from squirting the ketchup and mustard, you could see that there was already mustard on the left side of his face.
  • Goof (continuity error): Steve's blanket appearing and reappearing when Laura helps him from the fold-out bed.
  • Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When the bed folds up on Steve.
  • Goof (continuity error): When the TV pops up from the living room up into Carl's bedroom and lands on the floor face down, the bottom left side of the TV is hanging over the edge of the hole in the floor. In the next shot, a piece of a floorboard is leaning on Carl's side of the bed. Then as Steve comes into the bedroom, the TV has moved over a bit from the hole and in the next shot of Carl, the floorboard that was leaning on his side of the bed is gone.
  • Goof (factual errors): Carl is selected to have jury duty with Urkel in one episode, but in real life police officers cannot be on a jury.
  • Goof (continuity error): While Myra is watching Steve brush his teeth with her Glasses Cam, the camera movement wasn't consistent with his facial movements as he looked at himself brushing his teeth. The camera stayed still while his head moved back and forth. Also, you would be able to see your own hand in front of your face, and it wasn't there, only in the reflection.
  • Goof (plot holes): In the episode "Family Matters" (1989) {Marriage 101 (#2.3)} (the flashback of Steve and Laura's marriage project) it ends with Steve selling the ring to Carl. But when he proposes to her he says he kept the ring.
  • Goof (continuity error): In Season 2, when Laura and Steve are paired together in marriage for a school project, Steve buys Laura a ring, which she rejects. Steve then sells it to Carl. However, in Season 9, when Steve proposes to Laura, he produces the same ring, saying he kept the ring over the years.
