Inspired by the the New Zealand-based multi-sport and European endurance races popular since the early 1980s, Mark Burnett created the Eco-Challenge in 1992. Eco-Challenge is the world's premiere expedition race. It is held each year in a remote region of the world and attracts the best adventure racers from across the globe.
