The show was originally developed by Fox and was titled 'Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23'. Fox passed and ABC did a pilot with the title 'Apartment 23'. It was chosen as one of the 'Most exciting new series' at the Critics' Choice Television Awards. The series title was then changed to a bowdlerized version of its original name.
This episode was originally written to be the 3rd episode of the entire series -- but was pushed back by ABC in favor of airing episodes with more guest stars.
