Summary: The alien world of Marinus. Perfect peace has reigned here for decades due to the mind-controlling influence of a machine known as the Conscience. Mistakes/Goofs

Goof (revealing mistake): There is a camera wobble and audible thud as the camera bumps into the set while carrying out a tracking shot during the scene in which Darrius is dying.

Trivia

The mechanical arms of the statue are the real arms of a person stuck through the set.
This episode was watched by 9.9 million viewers on its original transmission.
Script editor David Whitaker rewrote the draft script to remove the Doctor from the plot, to allow William Hartnell a week's holiday. This is why Hartnell is credited, but does not appear.
