  • Episode 09 - As with the previous episode, scriptwriter Paul Cornell based this episode upon his 1995 Doctor Who novel, "Human Nature", making this two-parter the first time in series history that an original Doctor Who novel was adapted for television.
  • This episode was watched by 9.35 million viewers on its original transmission.
  • This episode marks the first occasion since the return of Doctor Who in 2005 that the Doctor's home planet, Gallifrey, is identified by name.
  • Episode 11 - When Professor Yana examines his fob watch, voices of Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley taken from footage of Doctor Who (UK) (1963) are heard. Both actors portrayed the Master in the original series.
