Mistakes/Goofs
- Goof (plot holes): In Part One, The Silence of the Library, the Expedition Director says that it has taken three generations for them to break through the library's cryptography, yet at the end of Part Two, he notes that Cal is his grandfather's daughter (his aunt), meaning that it is impossible for it to have been three generations of work on the library's computer systems.
Trivia
- According to Steven Moffat, the squareness gun is the sonic blaster used by Jack Harkness in season 1. After Jack leaves it in the TARDIS, River Song will take the gun in the Doctor's future.
- "Forest of the Dead" was initially announced under the title "River's Run", before its name was changed relatively late in production.
- The characters Joshua and Ella are respectively named after Steven Moffat's son and his son's friend.
- The wedding dress Donna wears in this episode is the same dress she wore in "Doctor Who" (2005) {The Runaway Bride (#3.0)}.
