MISTAKES/GOOFS
- CONT: When Harold Saxon puts on the gas mask, the valve is at the top. When he takes it off to speak, it has switched to the bottom.
- FAKE: The army shoot at Martha's car and you can see sparks where the bullets bounce off her windscreen. But, at that close range, just one of those bullets could go through a brick.
- FACT: Winters is described as "President", but identifies himself to the Toclafane as "President Elect of the United States of America". The President Elect is the candidate who has won an election (in early November) but not yet taken office (on January 20); he has no authority yet.
- PLOT: When Captain Jack and the Doctor are talking about Torchwood Jack argues his case saying that he rebuilt it after the battle of canary wharf. However, in the spin off series "Torchwood" (2006) there is an episode called "Torchwood" (2006) {Fragments (#2.12)} that shows how each member was recruited. This episode shows that Jack was recruited 100 years before the battle of canary wharf to Torchwood Three (Torchwood One was based at Canary Wharf and Torchwood three was based in Cardif Bay).
TRIVIA
- As the Toclafane remove one tenth of the population Noel Clarke's (Mickey Smith) voice can be heard during the alarm calls.
- As the Toclafane descend on Earth the dance track being played is "Voodoo Child" by Rogue Traders from the Album "Here come the Drums".
- The Mysterious Man from The Lazarus Experiment was due to make a cameo appearance. But when actor Bertie Carvel was not free, the character became Sinister Woman instead.
- In the scene setting up the introduction of the Toclafane, the Master offers his wife a Jelly Baby, which was the candy of choice for the 4th doctor (Tom Baker (I)).
- The television in Martha's flat was made by Magpie Electricals, the same television-maker featured in the series 2 episode The Idiot's Lantern.
