Summary: Martha and the Doctor visit Elizabethan England and the original Globe Theatre to see the latest Shakespeare play, Love's Labour's Won. But once there, they find three evil witches, set on hijacking the play's production and changing the course of history.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: When the Doctor witnesses Lynley die - of a psychic attack that causes him to drown on dry land, his lungs full of water - he declares that he has never seen anything like it. In fact, the Doctor has seen a death almost exactly like it in the 1971 serial "The Mind of Evil", in which the victim was, likewise, found dead in a dry room, his lungs full of water.

TRIVIA

The Doctor says that Martha Jones is from the country of Freedonia. This is the name of the fictional country in the Marx Brothers' film Duck Soup (1933).
The Doctor previously claimed to have met Shakespeare in the original series episode "City of Death" however his behavior upon meeting Shakespeare in this episode suggests he's never met the man before. The writer of the episode, in an interview, indicated that lines were written to reference the City of Death meeting, but were cut so as not to confuse new viewers.
This is the first episode in which the Doctor and his companion are shown sharing a bed (though platonically on the Doctor's part). It is also the first episode in which a companion is actually shown making sexual advances (albeit subtle) towards the Doctor. (Martha's advances are defused when the Doctor starts talking about Rose.)
Rose Tyler mention: when the Doctor is trying to work out a mystery he says, "Rose would know and fill in my words right now." Lilith also references Rose when she reads the Doctor's mind.
Christina Cole has kept her character's teeth.
