Summary: The Doctor seeking to show Rose an unusual event, takes her to the end of the Earth, literally. He takes her forward in time to the impending destruction of the Earth due to the Earth’s sun impending super nova billions of years in the future.They land on a specially designed orbital spacecraft that hosts “end of the world” events. All appears normal until strange robot spiders start causing mayhem.The robot spiders imperil all onboard the orbiting spacecraft, and it’s up to the Doctor to set things straight and find out who onboard is in control of these malicious robots. He must solve this dilemma quickly or a trapped Rose,the rest of the guests, and himself, die along with the Earth in the sun’s death.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: As the room that Rose is in gets scorched by the blazing sun, the level of burning is above her head in close up shots, but at Rose's shoulder level on wide shots.
SYNC: Rose and Cassandra are shot intermittently from behind, looking out of the Space Station window; from behind Cassandra's lips do not move at all, though we still hear her speak.
CONT: The Doctor gets a B- for his act of "Jiggery Pokery" on Rose's cell phone. When she calls home, the dialogue indicates that Jackie receives the call during a time period when Rose is still working at the department store.
CONT: Rose Tyler's hairstyle changes from shot to shot when she is discussing being 'the last human' with Cassandra. Rose's hair is in one style for the long shots, and another style for the close-ups.

TRIVIA

Rose Tyler gets her cell phone upgraded, the first of two signs that she's the new companion (the other being a key to the TARDIS).
Bad Wolf Reference: The Moxx of Balhoon says "This is the Bad Wolf scenario" to the Face of Boe.
This is the second time in as many episodes that the Doctor gets to rip the arm off something.
The first appearance of The Face of Boe.
For "The End of the World" Zoë Wanamaker was unable to attend the studio session in Cardiff and recorded her lines as Cassandra later in a sound studio in London. She was so impressed with the show when it went out that, when asked to reprise her character for "New Earth" in series two, she made sure she was available to attend the studio recording and recorded her lines live.
