MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FAKE: The Doctor and Rose locate the "metal" hatch that leads down into the "Plastic's Leader" blob. Watch carefully after the Doctor removes the "metal" hatch and moves it aside. The entire hatch "pops-up" a second later. This is because it is plastic and it was suctioned to the floor.
- CONT: When Rose believes Mickey to be dead after seeing the Doctor remove the head of the Auton replica of Mickey she states that "She will have to tell his mother". However in later stories we learn that Mickey is an orphan who was raised by his grandmother
- CONT: When Rose gives Micky the Auton's arm, it is a right arm, but when Micky throws it in the dumpster it is a left arm, then it's back to being a right arm when it attacks the doctor.
- CONT: When Mickey is attacked by the bin in the street, he fights to turn around with the bin stuck to his hands. As he turns, the stretched parts of the bin should cross over - but they remain parallel.
- FAKE: The final Auton attack in this episode is supposed to take place in a busy London street, but it is a pedestrianised area, and several shots reveal this. For example, there are no road markings visible, no apparent distinction between pavement and road, and a bus stop appears to sit in the middle of the 'road'.
TRIVIA
- In the scene where the Doctor is in Rose's flat, the original script called for The Doctor to stick his entire head in the cat flap. But when they got it, it was far too small.
- In the first episode, Rose is seen logging on to a website to find more information on The Doctor, and finds a conspiracy website run by a man called Clive (Mark Benton). This website actually exists at www.whoisdoctorwho.co.uk and is run by the BBC's Doctor Who web team, and is updated weekly, after the showing of each episode.
- A second season and Christmas special were commissioned on the strength of the first episode's ratings alone.
- When telling the anagram for TARDIS to Rose, the Doctor, instead of using the more well-known "Time And Relative Dimensions in Space," used the original title, making Dimension singular instead of plural.
- The first appearance of the Doctor shows him grabbing Rose's hand. The old Doctor Who's final producer, John Nathan-Turner, didn't like the Doctor and his companions to touch as he thought there should be no implied sexual relationship between the two.
