When Carl and David, two brothers flying a small aircraft with their father, crash near an island called Dinotopia, they discover the pleasures and surprises of a land in which humans and dinosaurs coexist as friends and equals. While the place seems easy enough to get used to, the boys must find a way of returning to their home.
