This show provides an interesting and insightful portrayal of a psychopath. Throughout the show, dexter's thoughts are said out loud allowing the viewer to peer into the mind of a serial killer. Since the protagonist (dexter) only kills "bad guys", the viewer automatically views him as a hero. However, Dexter is a new twist on the classic hero who takes the law into his own hands in order to achieve justice. Even though dexter only kills other serial killers, his killings originate from his need to satisfy his psychopathic desire to kill. In fact, he is satisfying his selfish desires and not trying to save lives. His internal conflict and unique problems that arise give the show an unusual and exciting approach to a classic theme. |

I absolutely love this show. It has drama, comedy and violence for all the right and wrong reasons. Oh and lots of blood, mmmm yum blood!!! |

I never thought I'd be rooting for a serial killer, but everyone loves Dexter. It's a simple story (at least the basics are simple): a sociopath child is raised by a cop. A cop who knows the child will "go bad" if an outlet isn't found for his bloody tendencies. Dexter has a code (from his foster dad), and a need to kill. Some of the things that happen in the show are more convoluted, but the premise is simple and simply mesmerizing. I can't wait for another season. BTW, don't bother watching the network version; they've cut out most of the best parts! |

This is one of the greatest shows ever. It keeps you on your feet, and makes you want more. By the way don't watch it on CBS they butchered it for commercials, and the FCC. |

If you love the show as much as I do, I strongly recommend reading the books by Jeff Lindsay that it's based on. Darkly Dreaming Dexter for the first season, Dearly Devoted Dexter for the second, and his third book Dexter in the Dark. They're slightly different from the show but in a good way. I'm hooked on both. September can't come soon enough! |

Until a few days ago I had never seen any of the show. I downloaded seasons 1 and 2 together. I watched the first episode and I was hooked. I watched all 24 epsodes back to back it is one of best shows I have ever seen. The acting is great, the charachters are very likable and the writing is superb. Every episode leaves you wanting more. I know it is wrong but the more you watch the more you sympathise with a serial killer. Michael C Hall is fantastic in the lead role and Jennifer Carpentar is perfect as his forward sister. Another thing I love about the show is that although the show is centred around Dexter you also get to see how those around him live their lives. You get to see how they react to different situations, you see their fears their worries and their mistakes. This makes for essential viewing. Be prepared you may find yourself liking a serial killer. |

I have one thing to say.....FANTASTIC. Hoping that the second season will keep me hooked. I do not know why, but i will not like him to be discovered. But, in the other hand, it is very scary to know that one could and have the power to become Dexter........creeeeepy.lol |

Must love Dexter! Who wouldnt? The plot is always brilliant and fresh. Every episode always makes me ask for more. Others may find it gross and creepy but this is a whole new way of crime fighting/solving series. Not to mention that a blood spatter expert who works for the Miami police is actually a serial killer. Who of course kills people who gets away in the law and according to Harry's code. I love the momentum ,the twists and definitely love the humor. Dexter never has a dull moment. So if you guys are up to a creepy point of view of a crime solving/serial killer/boyfriend/brother type of series then this is a must watch for you. But have to warn you though, its creepy and gross not for those jelly knees because i can assure you, it will give you the creeps. |

Like I said in the Dexter Forum... Who would have thought that a Gay Undertaker could make such a Hot Serial Killer? LOVE LOVE LOVE Dexter! And the story line just continues to get better and more clever and more knuckle biting every single episode! The new one is always better than the last! Ok, Looks like I jumped the gun a bit. CBS is re-running the "first season" due to the writer's strike. Nevertheless, this will definitely compromise the show, as many will see it for the first time on network TV. And crossovers from cable to network just don't work. Thus, I hope the strike is solved, and they don't even THINK about making Dexter mainstream, network, Bullshit after the writers come back. Showing (no pun intended lol) "cut up" episodes is bad enough. PLEASE keep Dexter free to be his TRUE self on cable TV. |
