Episode Quotes

Lt. Maria Laguerta: Now I'm on the line, so if you bully Dexter in any way, if you even look at him wrong, I will not be responsible for the fallout. You got it?
Sergeant Doakes: I got it.
Sergeant Doakes: [after a pause] You're backing the fucking freaktard.
Dexter Morgan: [Before hitting James Doakes] I own you.
Lt. Maria Laguerta: You and Dexter resolve your issues?
Sergeant Doakes: As far as I'm concerned. Why? The bitch come crying to you again?
Lt. Maria Laguerta: No. There's blood work to be done here, and if you can't control yourself, I need to call in another detective.
Sergeant Doakes: I won't say anything to hurt the little girl's feelings.
Lt. Maria Laguerta: God damn it, James, I'm not joking.
Sergeant Doakes: Do I look like I'm laughing?
Lt. Maria Laguerta: No. You don't. I wish you would. You used to.
Sergeant Doakes: Bullshit. I never laughed.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (revealing mistake): SPOILER: In this and other episodes we see that Lila's artwork is made of metal. Near the end of the episode Lila is able to make her metal statue burn as if made of wood, by using a simple hand torch.
  • Goof (factual errors): Doakes would not legally be allowed to interrogate a suspect who had obtained legal counsel without that suspect's lawyer present.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): In the scene where Debra and Gabriel are in bed and Debra says she wants to break up with him it is supposed to look like Debra has been listening to her iPod for a while, but when the scene starts the display on her iPod is illuminated and goes dark after a second or two. This means she just used the controls on her iPod.
  • Goof (continuity error): Cody's position relative to the background when practicing his presentation on Saudi Arabia.

Trivia

  • Episode title refers to Maurice Sendak's short story "Where the Wild Things Are", where a forest grows in Max's room that leads him to where the wild things are.
