Dexter is a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Department. He also has an active "night life". Based on a code instilled in him by his foster father, Harry, he hunts down people who have escaped justice and makes sure they don't get away with a crime again.

The upcoming season, Dexter's eighth, will honestly, no joke, 100-percent confirmed be the series' last. The cable network today announced the decision, touting the series' longevity and draw (its audience has climbed every season) while breaking the good-or-bad-depending-on-how-you-look-at-it news.
