Character Bio

Lynette Scavo photo
Lynette Scavo (née Lindquist) represents that person inside all of us, who just can't seem to hold it together. She is lovable because of her chaotic life, her struggles, and, most important, her ability to be honest about them. She used to be a high-powered ad exec but now her husband Tom travels almost all the time and her ADD-afflicted boys and infant baby are driving her crazy.
The career woman who once had it all begins to unravel, realizing she's not cut out for the life she leads.

Early Life

Childhood
Lynette is the eldest of 3 daughters born in 1966 to Stella Wingfield . She and her sisters lost their father very early and Glenn Wingfield was her stepfather for a while but he left too. Lynette blamed her mother for driving him away for a long time.

Marriage
She graduated from Northwestern University and met Tom when they worked together in Advertising agents. They married in 1996 and moved to Wisteria Lane when they discovered she was expecting their eldest children, Porter and Preston. Tom suggested to Lynette to quit her job and be a stay-at-home mom, something Lynette regretted in the first season. She is the best mother in Wisteria Lane and the most upfront.

Season One

A Hard Life
Lynette struggles to cope with her four children and missing her old job. Worse, Tom seems to have no idea how harried she is.

Addiction to ADD Medication
Lynette, although a toughie, is also an overachiever and she got hooked on her sons' ADD medication.

Season Two

Return to Work
When Tom is offered a promotion that entails him traveling for work even more, Lynette finds a way to ensure that the offer is retracted.
Tom quits his job and decides to be a stay-at-home dad, Lynette is torn by her desire to return to work and anxiety about leaving her kids.

Suspicions
Lynette thinks that Tom is having an affair with a woman living far away. She left him and took the kids. Tom proves that he didn't cheat. He has a daughter Kayla (11) from one night stand with Nora Huntington long time ago.

Season Three

Custody Of Kayla
Nora wants Tom back but she decides to move away and take Kayla. Lynette and Tom go for custody. Plans changed when Nora and Lynette were held as hostages. Lynette promised her, before she died, that she would look after Kayla (who latter blamed Lynette for mother's death).

Opening the Pizzeria
Tom, jobless, followed his life-long dream to open a pizzeria but a problem hit when Tom was confined to bed with a back injury. Lynette struggled to cope with Tom, five children and the pizzeria so she hired a manager, Rick, who later had feelings for her. Tom accidentally knocked Lynette onto the floor from their bed, they went to hospital where a CAT scan revealed a Cancer. Tom borrows the money from Lynette's mother, Stella who is moving in so she can help.

Season Four

The Battle with Cancer
Lynette now wears wigs but has kept her illness a secret. She didn't want people feeling sorry for her but eventually confesses.

The Tornado
Lynette persuaded her neighbor, Mrs. McCluskey, to let her family shelter in her basement. Neighbor Ida died, giving her life for Lynette's family.

Problems with Kayla
Kayla burns herself with a curling iron and blames Lynette, who got arrested. When Kayla confesses that she lied Tom sends her to live with her grandparents.

Five Year Jump
The Scavo's are still running the pizzeria and having even more trouble raising the now teenage twins.

Season Five

Dealing with the Schillings
Tom is having a mid-life crisis. He starts a band with Dave, Orson, Carlos & Mike, much to Lynette's annoyance. Porter is having an affair with Anne Shilling, a much older married woman. Anne tells Porter that she is having his baby. Lynette confronts Anne about her affair and her abusive husband, Warren, overhears them.

Nightclub Fire
Warren blames Porter for the fire. He is later arrested but released on bail and Lynette pays Anne (reveals that there is no baby) to leave town alone.

Protecting Porter
Dave frames Porter for the fire and scared of Warren, he jumps bail before his court hearing. Tom and Lynette realize that Preston is posing as Porter in court. Eventually Porter returns and the charges are dropped but lawyer bills has left the Scavos broke, forcing Tom to sell the pizzeria.
Lynette return to work in Advertising.
