Character Bio

Mrs. Greenberg lives alone at 4347 Wisteria Lane. This is revealed in episode 3.06, Sweetheart, I Have to Confess. The taxi driver says "I'm looking for 4347, Ida Greenberg?" It was then revealed that she lives in the blue house next to The Solis' house, and across from Mrs. Huber's House. It is unknown whether she is widowed or divorced.
She first appeared in episode 1.05, Come In, Stranger, when she told everyone that every time she took a shower someone looked through her bathroom window. She appeared in the following episode, Running to Stand Still, when she let Susan borrow her station wagon when Susan wanted to follow Paul Young around.
Ida has also been known to steal Bree Van De Kamp's newspaper as seen in episode 1.16, The Ladies Who Lunch. She is known to be the neighborhood alcoholic when she has been caught by the neighbors at church, during gatherings and during the evenings. While drinking one evening, Ida thought she received a message from God to stop when her bottle was unexpectedly broken. When in reality, Susan and Mike were fighting off Zach who had a gun, and the gun went off and hit Ida's bottle.
Ida continues to be a recurring character appearing mostly during neighborhood meetings and to associate with the other housewives. Ida also has several pet cats. Also, it has been revealed in episode 2.11, One More Kiss, that she is a gossiper. Gabrielle reveals this by saying, "It must have been Helen Roland, she probably told all the girls at the salon, and Ida Greenberg goes to that salon, and if Ida Greenberg knows, the whole town knows."
Ida has also discovered dead bodies on two occasions. First she came across Alma's dead body, along with Gloria Hodge (who had suffered a stroke) on Alma's front lawn. In a later episode while looking after Mrs. McCluskey's house, Ida Greenberg notices a strange smell and discovers Mrs. McClusky's husband's body, and Mrs. McCluskey awakens in hospital to have two officers standing by her bed.
In the episode 4.09 Ida takes shelter with Karen McCluskey, Lynette, Tom and their kids in Karen's basement while a tornado hits the lane. Ida brings her cat Toby and when Tom finds out he tells them he's allergic to cats but Karen and Ida refuse to take the cat upstairs. Later in the episode while Karen is distracted with the TV and Ida is asslep Lynette grabs Toby and takes him upstairs and Karen finds out and chases her to get the cat back but the cat runs outside and they are forced to take shelter in Lynette's house. When the tornado is finished Lynette and Karen emerge they discover Karen's house completely destoryed when Ida, Tom and the kids were all inside.
In the episode 4.10 it's revealed Ida had died when the tornado struck the house. Parker tells Lynette that when the tornado hit the house Ida had made sure Tom and the kids were under the stairs but because there was no room for her she told Parker she'd be fine in the corner. Lynette and Karen decide to give Ida her last wish and spread her ashes at the baseball ground where she played as a star player for an all girls team during the second world war.
