[show all]The season starts with a shocker.
We've been feeling the drama from the start, so we knew something unusual was going to happen tonight. And we learned that fans who really love a celebrity can definitely save them if they make a few mis-steps.
Right off the bat, we knew things weren't gonna be predictable. Pamela Anderson, who had the fourth highest judges' score, was announced to be in the bottom two. And Buzz Aldrin, who had the lowest judges' score both nights, was safe. Clearly all bets were off.
Niecy Nash, Aiden Turner, Evan Lysacek, Jake Pavelka, Nicole Shcerzinger, Chad Ochocinco and Erin Andrews were all declared safe. Each of them seemed so nervous about being eliminated (okay, except maybe Nicole) that you could really feel the emotion as they exhaled in relief. Of course this is just the first of many eliminations to come, so the pressure is still on.
That left Kate Gosselin, who had the 2nd lowest judges' scores—and Shannen Doherty on the chopping block.
Kate was saved. And Shannen was eliminated It was a surprise, considering there were four stars with lower judges' scores than her, but the people voted. It was bittersweet... Shannen's partner Mark Ballas injured his knee in rehearsal yesterday and just learned today that he would've had to sit out for the next six weeks, which would've left Shannen to dance with a substitute (possibly Mark's father).
