CHAR: 'Ed Asner' plays a German who is masquerading as a Jewish man. When Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) meets him, Ed uses a Yiddish "goniff." Germans of that generation consider Yiddish as a lower language and do not speak it. (Yiddish is spoken primarily by Eastern Europeans.)
