MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: At the end of this episode Horatio is holding a card ("In Loving Remembrance...") that has his brother's date of birth, 8/24/68, and death, 3/18/93, on it. Then at the end of episode 1x13 (Bunk), Horatio goes to the cemetery to visit his brother's grave. The dates on the tombstone say "October 24, 1968, to March 18, 2001".
FACT: SPOILER: It is impossible for a cell phone to produce static electricity. To ignite gasoline, a spark is necessary - of course, an open flame will do the trick as well. Approximately 4,000 volts is the minimum necessary to cause a spark. It is conceivable that spark-generating circuitry could be hidden in a battery pack for a cell phone (but could not be put into the cell phone, itself). However, the first time that the spark discharged, the electronics in the cell phone would be destroyed; we see that the phone was still working afterward. We do not see the investigators attempt to prove that a spark could have emanated from the cell phone (something out of line with typical episode procedures). This urban myth was "busted" in an episode of "MythBusters" (2003).
