After watching all of season one and part of season two, I think the show is perhaps one of the more genuine documentaries to come out of the reality tv plague. The processes in the unit are conveyed well; the regulation of simple and small regular tasks which, some more control-needy people would call fascist, counter-balanced with calculated response-inducing stimuli to trigger and test triggers (all leads back to control). All of the professionals act quite objectively clinical (and I mean that as a compliment). The patients have some big drama and little to say about it, so they create small drama amongst themselves which they big up to BIG melodrama; it is what is. But mind you, this is a group of entertainers, so they're a rare breed - most clinics would have a FAR higher percentage of essentially homeless patients.

We spend enough time with some of these people to start to like them, as well as understand their actions a bit better in this controlled context. A good smooth-over into to addiction disease that stays aware of properly presenting some ideal medical/scientific procedures while balancing that with an objective exploration of quite subjective material (people and their problems).

Gonna be fun to finish up season 2, and I want to see upcoming "Sober House w Dr. Drew".
