The show typically opened with a Jackie Gleason monologue, followed by a sketch comedy involving Gleason (he portrayed a number of recurring characters through the life of the show). There were also quite a number of regular performers (including Art Carney) also and then a musical interlude followed featuring the June Taylor Dancers.
