When they got the footage back to their studios in Colorado, they realized they needed to shoot other key scenes to fulfill the writer's vision. They ran a quick casting and two day shoot at their Colorado facility.

[show]This episode had a five day shoot. The second day of the shoot was 11 September 2001. The cast and crew arrived to the location set listening to live radio reports of the terrorist attacks as they were happening. Even during the filming, the crew had monitors showing live TV reports. By noon, the director gave the cast and crew the option to cancel the shoot. Unanimously, everyone decided to continue filming. Many of the cast used anger and sadness (built up from watching the 9-11 TV coverage) as motivation for filming a very tense courtroom scene. The outbursts and tears you see in the episode are real.
