Michael Westen is a trained spy; while on assignment he receives a "burn notice" for an unstated reason, effectively he is fired. Penniless and dumped in his hometown of Miami, he tries to get his life in order. So Michael freelances his skills to earn money in an effort to find out who burned him and why.

April 15, 2010: USA has renewed Burn Notice for two more seasons. Ted Linhart, the network's VP of Program Research, 'tweeted' the news on his Twitter account, serving notice that the show has been renewed for seasons five and six.
