Episode Quotes
 | Season 2 / Episode 8: - The Dark Age
Cordelia: Do you know what you need, Xander, besides a year's supply of acne cream? A brain. Xander Harris: That's it. Twelve years of you and I'm snappin'. I don't care if you're a girl or not, I'm throwin' down, come on. |
 | Season 2 / Episode 8: - The Dark Age
Xander Harris: Giles lived for school. He's actually still bitter that there were only twelve grades. Buffy: He probably sat in math class thinking, "There should be more math. This could be mathier." Willow: Come on. You don't think he ever got restless as a kid? Buffy: Are you kidding? His diapers were tweed. |

MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FACT: In the end credits, character names are garbled. Diedre spelled Dierdre, and morgue attendant, spelled mourge attendent.
- FAKE: Ethan uses Sulfuric Acid to burn a tattoo off of his arm. The steam comes off of his arm before any liquid leaves the bottle, though.
- CREW: When Buffy is being attacked by one of the fake doctor vampires on the hood of the car, you can see wires attached to the vampire's clothes just before Buffy kicks him away.
- CONT: Six minutes into the episode there is a chat in the school hallway, during which Buffy takes three items out of her locker: a notebook, a thick textbook, and a book by Luigi Barzini, Jr. titled "The Europeans." As she closes her locker, Barzini's book is right side up in her arms, but when next we see her a few seconds later it is upside down, and the thick textbook underneath it appears to have been replaced by a much thinner one.
- PLOT: Eighteen minutes into the episode, in the computer lab, Cordelia informs Buffy that the police were talking to Giles in the library about a homicide, but there is no way she can know this, as Giles was informed before she arrived in the library and no mention was made of why the police were there while Cordelia was present.
TRIVIA
- There is a photo of a young Rupert Giles holding a bass guitar. The production crew faked the photo by superimposing his head onto a photo of Sid Vicious.
- This is the first time we see Giles' apartment, which becomes a major setting in the later seasons.
- Giles states, "And the rest is silence." This seems to be a reference to the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), as it was the last words Merrick, Buffy's first watcher, left with Buffy. The phrase in the movie would later become relevant to Buffy in her defeating Lothos.
