Episode Quotes
Xander: So, do we have to speak Spanish when we see him? 'Cause I don't know anything much besides 'Doritos' and 'Chihuahua'.
Buffy Summers: This is so unfair.
Willow: I don't think it's that bad.
Buffy Summers: It's the Über-suck. Mom could've at least warned me.
Xander: Well, a lot of parents are doing it this year. It's part of this whole cultural exchange magillah. The exhibit, the dance...
Willow: I have the best costume for the dance!
Buffy Summers: A complete stranger in my house for two weeks. I'm gonna be insane! A danger to myself and others within three days, I swear.
Xander: I think the exchange student program's cool. I do! It's a beautiful melding of two cultures.
Buffy Summers: Have you ever done an exchange program?
Xander: My dad tried to sell me to some Armenians once. Does that count?
Willow: I don't think it's that bad.

Buffy Summers: His name's Ampata. Gonna be at the bus station tomorrow night.
Xander: Oooh. The Sunnydale bus depot. Classy! What a better way to introduce someone to our country than with the stench of urine.

Mistakes/Goofs
- Goof (crew or equipment visible): As Willow and Xander do a walk-and-talk across the front lawn of Sunnydale High, two crew members with lighting gear come into view in the background past Xander's left shoulder.
- Goof (factual errors): When they enter the exhibit for the Incan burial chamber, most of the sculptures are examples of Chavin art, not Incan art.
- Goof (continuity error): The mummified corpse in the chest seemingly turns itself around.
- Goof (continuity error): Ampata applies lipstick in the bathroom, but a few hours later tells Buffy that she doesn't have any lipstick and needs to borrow some.
- Goof (continuity error): We see the door to Buffy's house open from the outside swing in one direction. When we see the same door from the inside, it is very clearly hinged on the other side.
Trivia
- The band name on the drum kit for Oz's band is "Dingoes ate my Baby" and the Australian flag hangs over them, a reference to the Lindy Chamberlain Creighton case in Australia.
- First appearances of Seth Green and Danny Strong in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Although Danny Strong did have one line in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) {Unaired Pilot (#1.0)}.
- Sitting in the library, Willow is holding a frog cuddly-toy, even though she has frog fear.
- Both Nicholas Brendon and Ara Celi had to eat up to ten twinkies each for each take of the scene in which they are eating lunch.
