MISTAKES/GOOFS
- CONT: When the demon is looking through the computer for Buffy's file, her name on the list of students says she is a senior with a 3.4 GPA, and that her birthday is 10/24/80. The file opens with her correct status (Junior) and birthday (10/24/80), and lists her GPA as 2.8. The camera goes off the computer screen and when it comes back, the file lists Buffy as being a senior with the birthday 5/6/79, with a GPA of 2.8. Also later in series 6 ("The Gift"), Buffy's birth year is marked on her grave stone as 1981, conflicting with both sets of information in "I Robot, You Jane".
- MISC: You see Malcolm scrolling through student profiles looking for Buffy, but if you play the scene in slow motion you see him scroll past the same student photos (including Buffy's) several time before finding her.
- FAKE: After Malcolm scans through the student database looking for Buffy, he sends the information to Fritz's computer. Before the information pops up on Fritz's screen, a normal Macintosh desktop can be seen with a folder icon labeled "Buffy...I, Robot". This folder's window is open and the folders inside labeled "Scene 10", "Scene 11", and "Scene 12" can be seen. The menu bar disappears as the application that runs the computer's animation begins and is replaced with a different menu bar.
TRIVIA
- Buffy's birthday was celebrated in the episode first aired on or near 19 January each year. In this episode, Malcolm brings up Buffy's school records on his computer. In the first view, we see that Buffy was born on 24 October 1980, and that she is a sophomore. The second time we see Buffy's records, her birthday is 6 May 1979, and she is a senior. (She is also shown with two different GPAs, one of them excellent.) Joss Whedon finally decreed Buffy's birthday to be 19 January 1981.
- Series creator Joss Whedon provides the (uncredited) voice of the newscaster in this episode, his only on-air appearance in the seven year run of the show. He did make one on-screen appearance on this show's spin-off, "Angel".
- Jenny Calendar was originally going to be named Nicki, but it was later changed in order to avoid on-set confusion with Nicholas (Nicky) Brendon.
