This is a dark series, can be depressing to some. I found some of the episodes in season 2 leaving me with the question of what was that episode all about? Overall though, it's pretty good and it is getting better as you get to understand Walter and how cancer has changed his outlook on life and on himself. helpful comment/review

This show is one of the best ever in my opinion. Brilliant acting by Cranston.
Excellent dark humor.
Just gets better and better each episode.
Definitely worth a watch.
Much better than the mediocre shows that seem the most popular.

Since nobody else has mentioned
it: There are 6 "Minisodes" of this show available to view on AMC's main site (the network that airs it)

These do not interfere with the storyline of the show in any way, they are just treats for the fans.
But it's recommendable that you have watched enough of the show to know what it's about- and the characters, before seeing them for them to give full effect.

Sorry if I'm breaking some site rule about not referring to other sites or w.e
just had to let people on here know about these.
Current or future fans of the show wouldn't wanna miss 'em :)

I can't say I love this show; it's too painful to really love. But, it shows the horrible gray areas of life--what cancer, love, money, and reality can do to perfectly normal people.

I do enjoy the "flashback" method of telling the story. Often the first scene is the last scene and the middle is all about the journey.

I'm looking forward to the second season. I think it'll work because time is so compressed. The first season all took place in about a month or so and I expect the second season to work out the same way.

The concept was good but the delivery inane. Badly acted, jerky and couldn't even find a decent start point. They had to use the 'best' action piece and then back track to show the build-up. Pathetic I will not be keeping this or watching future eps.

Please follow the guidelines when posting a review.

I *really* liked this show, through the first two episodes. Nothing formulaic in the first two weeks, and the main character is a very interesting study. As one of the reviews says, it's very much a character study, but this guy is going to impact on a bunch of lives.

The handicapped son, the very curious wife ("What's a MILF?" heh) and the zonked-out dealer on speed are all catalysts here.

I think this is quite a thoughtful show. It's not for everyone but there should be a pretty good audience for this sort of really black comedy.

I would like to respectfully disagree with the review by quark. The start point was very effective. After that scene the viewer was left wondering how in holy hell this boring middle aged man had got in to such a crazy situation and it was gratifying watching the pieces fall in to place. And I would argue that the action immediately preceding and following the opening point on the timeline were equally if not more exciting. Granted, the 20 minutes or so following the opening scene might have been too slow to hold some viewers interest without the flash of the future. But this isn't an action show, its really a character study and a subtle comedy. The acting is great, and the writing hits a note of deadpan realism with great absurd touches that only make it more convincing.
The second episode was even better, and was both more intense and uncomfortable and more funny. The humor sometimes veered towards a weird slow motion sinister slapstick.
Anyway, I can't wait for the next episode, and while it apparently isn't for everyone others will enjoy this admittedly somewhat excruciating show.
