Episode 01 - The DSS centre seen throughout the series was actually a mock-up built in a disused church just off Princes Road in Toxteth, as the producers could not obtain permission to film in a real DSS centre. Oddly enough,the church had previously been used as a real temporary DSS centre.
Episode 04 - Although the lake sequence in Yosser's dream was scripted as being in Sefton Park, it was actually filmed at a lake on a private estate some 8 miles from Liverpool city center due to problems with water pollution and crowd control.
