  • As an in-joke to the film 1776, the high school is named John Adams High. William Daniels played John Adams in the film, and plays the principal here.
  • Several times throughout the years they mention how Cory and Topanga first met, but it's never the same story. Their "first" meeting happened at several different ages and places.
  • The 'rules' posted in the John Adams High School cafeteria are "No loud talking, no reading, no shooting".
  • In the beginning of the show, Shawn mentions he has a sister. This 'sister' helped with the "straightening" of Cory's hair in one of the episodes. However, later on in the show, we learn that Shawn doesn't have a sister.
  • In one episode, William Daniels mentions that The Graduate was a great film. He played Mr. Braddock in that movie.
  • In Episode 3-17 The Pink Flamingo Kid, we find out that Shawn has a half brother named Eddie, who he protects Cory from when Cory tapes him with stolen goods. We never hear about Eddie again, or a brother of Shawn's till Jack enters the show in season 5 as Shawn's half brother.

  • Danielle Fishel was originally cast as a guest star on the pilot. The actress who was cast as 'Topanga' wasn't 'working out'. Danielle and another girl were asked to read on the spot. Danielle won the role.
  • During the seven seasons of Boy Meets World, Willie Garson appears as three different characters. He plays Leonard Spinelli, Mervyn, and the minister who marries Topanga and Cory.
  • The character 'Dana Pruitt' was a tribute to actress Dayna Price, who was an avid fan of the show and frequently visited the set in addition to her two guest appearances. Ironically, the role of 'Dana' was played by 'Larissa Oleynik', who starred on The Secret World of Alex Mack', on which the real-life Dayna was a recurring character.

  • The character of Topanga was originally just a fringe character, a kind of "hippie new-age" girl intended as a foil to the main characters. But she proved so popular that the producers expanded her character to become more "normal" and, eventually, a main player in the series and the love interest of Corey Matthews.

Jacobs admitted that if he drove any further when the call came, he would have named the character "Canoga."
  • The character of Topanga debuts, played by Danielle Fishel. She was never supposed to have that role. In that episode, there were two classmates who were giving a presentation in class. One of them was Marla Sokoloff and the other was a blonde girl named Megan Parlen. Danielle was supposed to be Megan's role, but producer Michael Jacobs was so impressed with her that he gave her the role of Topanga the night before shooting the episode. She became a regular character during Episode 8.
