Summary: Alan pleads before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to allow his best friend Denny (who learns some disturbing news about the progression of his Alzheimer disease) have access to an experimental drug which could slow the progression of his Alzheimer's disease is available but not FDA approved.Meanwhile, Jerry and Katie take on a case of a woman who used a brain-enhancing drug while taking her SATs and was disqualified from Harvard. The murderous Catherine Piper returns.

Carl begins to mention the only show on TV who has stars over 50, and then stops in fear of "breaking the wall". He is of course referring to Boston Legal itself, who is known for its habit of constantly breaking the 4th wall.
Catherine Piper's cell phone ringtone is the theme from _"The Practice" (1997)_, the show from which Boston Legal is a spin-off.
