[show]The producers of this series pitched it to the ABC TV network as a relatively straightforward buddy comedy in the spirit of Billy Wilder's comedy films. However, when they used the film Some Like It Hot as an example, the network agreed to the series provided that the premise includes the characters being disguised as women. Although they had to quickly change their series because of this, they also found they were able to produce the series with otherwise little network creative interference as a result of this compromise.
