Special Agent Seeley Booth, Dr. Jack Hodgins: [in unison] Pirates!
Special Agent Seeley Booth: [Walking along a hallway leading to the morgue] Welcome to the dungeon.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Why the FBI always stick their morgues in the most depressing basement they can find?
Special Agent Seeley Booth: Don't be such a snob Bones, ok? Not everyone gets to play in a multimillion dollar lab, you know... with skylights.
Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: It's because as a society we feel the need to hide death away. The people who deal with the death are viewed as freaks.

Dr. Daniel Goodman: Ironic, given we contract that out to the FBI.

Mistakes/Goofs
- Goof (factual errors): (at around 3 mins) Hodgins talks about the legend of Blackbeard's "money pit" on Assateague Island. The legend of Blackbeard's "money pit" places it on Oak Island in the Mahone Bay in the Canadian Provence of Nova Scotia, approximately 1200 miles north of Assateague Island. Also while it is possible that Blackbeard could have visited Assateague Island there is no know proof; unlike Ocracoke Island which is approximately 300 miles south of Assateague along the coast and is located at the southern end of the barrier islands know as The Outer Banks of North Carolina.
- Goof (crew or equipment visible): You can see equipment and crew in the reflection of the car door when Bones gets out.
- Goof (factual errors): The water level in the treasure pit should be at sea level, because that is where the water that refloods it comes from. But every time we see it the water level is several feet above that of the surrounding land, which is several feet above sea level.
- Goof (crew or equipment visible): Steadycam operator and other crew visible in the side of the van when Hodgins carries diving hose away from the van.
- Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): SPOILER: When Hodgins goes into the shaft at the end and Dane is confronted by Brennan and Booth. When Dane holds the knife to the air hose, the sharp end is clearly pointed away from the air hose.
Trivia
- Booth tells Branson Rose - Robert Foxworth's character: "Oh sure, man, your attorney wants to go to court for the next twenty years and buy himself a nice vacation home in Tuscany" seeming to allude Tuscany Valley, the fictional valley where the TV show Falcon Crest took place, in which Foxworth played Chase Gioberti.
- The top worn by Lindsey Stoddart as Katie Ney (the Mayor's wife) is the same top worn by Alyson Hannigan as Vampire Willow in the episodes "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) {The Wish (#3.9)} and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) {Doppelgangland (#3.16)} of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series.
- When Bones is asking Hodges where he has gone cave diving, she asks if he has ever dived Naharon, and then remarks that she named Naharon. This would be appropriate to her character because that underwater cave was where "Eve of Naharon" was discovered. Dated at 13,600 year old, this female skeleton is the oldest human remains ever found in the Americas, as well as containing the oldest DNA yet extracted.
