Two years after the end of Newhart (14 after the end of The Bob Newhart Show) Bob returns as Bob McKay who is the creator of a comic book superhero (Mad Dog) but currently works as a greeting card artist. As the series starts, American-Canadian Trans-Continental Communications Company Chairman Chuck Terhorst is bringing the Mad Dog character back to the comics and wants Bob to return.
