The Adventures of Black Beauty (UK)
Black Beauty is a pure black, thoroughbred horse in late 19th Century rural England who is adopted into the household of James Gordon, a local doctor and widower, and befriended by his children and their friends. Adventures bring them into contact with various colourful characters and villians. However Black Beauty is always on hand to save the day.

Anna Sewell only wrote one book in her lifetime - Black Beauty - for which she was paid the grand sum of £20. It was published in 1877 just three months before her death.
