Summary: Rhinox has invented a new device that allows the Maximals to communicate over vast distances. Optimus latches it onto Cheetor and has him run out to test how far it reaches. Cheetor comes across a Pedacon that is unearthing a weapon. He goes against Optimus’ orders and follows. While following, Cheetor becomes captured and will need help from his comrades.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: When Cheetor goes offline when Optimus finds him, he is missing his trademark freckles on his face.

TRIVIA

In Japan, this episode was called "Cheetus no Kiki," or "Cheetor's Crisis."
In Cheetor's dream, the Decepticon Starscream can be seen (as an F-15 Eagle jet) flying over Cybertron for a few seconds, the Decepticon sigil seen on his wing. This was the first direct reference "Beast Wars" made to its predecessor "Transformers" (1984).
Since it took Rhinox a month to make the comlink, it follows that the Maximals have been stranded for at least that long. However, the time factor becomes a moot point in later episodes as the Maximals start communicating through interfaces on their bodies (Rhinox presumably upgraded them to compensate for the lost comlink).
SPOILER: For the first time in the series Cheetor starts to have visions of events before they occur. In this episode, Cheetor has a brief vision of Tarantulas and Rattrap before his interaction with either actually happens. He also predicts the arrival of Starscream in the episode "Possession."
