Season 1 Trivia

The name of the ruling council, Qurorum of the Twelve, is taken from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) which has a Quorum of the Twelve in its governing structure.
Episode 08 - Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Boomer claims to count six Cylon Raiders during the opening battle, but the computer display shows five of them.
The Colonial military rank system is never explained in detail in this (the original) version of the show. The official website for the 2003 Sci-Fi Channel remake does give a detailed run-down of the Galactica ranks. They are: Ensign, Lieutenant j.g., Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel, Commander, Admiral.
Episode 07 - Goof (continuity error): In "Gun on Ice Planet Zero Part 2", sparks are seen from Leda's jacket when Vulpa shoots her in the back. However, the jacket is undamaged when Croft cradles her in his arms seconds later.
Episode 04 - Goof (revealing mistake): As Apollo removes the branches from around his Viper after he crashes, you can hear the scraping sounds of the branches against plastic: obviously what the mock Viper is largely made out of.
