Summary: The fleet's exodus has not been clean and easy. After every jump, the Cylons appear exactly 33 minutes later to send them on the run again. Working with little to no sleep, everyone is being pushed to their limit.Baltar himself is put into stress when someone from the Olympic Carrier claims to have evidence he fears could link him to the Cylons' successful attack on the Twelve Colonies.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: As Dee admits to Commander Adama that she's lost the Olympic Carrier, her headphone changes sides in the middle of the conversation.
MISC: When the clock in CIC is kept running after the Cylons fail to make the 240th appearance, the Electronic display above the Situation Table is shown counting up to 45 minutes. However after +44:49:99, the numbers roll over to show +45:00:00, completely skipping the last 10 seconds.
SYNC: The clock counts down to the next Cylon attack. It reads 10 seconds, then we see Adama and Tigh looking off-screen at the clock as we hear ten seconds tick off, followed by a shot of the clock reading 7 seconds.
SYNC: When the Olympic Carrier returns, Cmdr. Adama calls out "Mr. Gaeta!" Lt. Gaeta turns and goes to Parade rest. When the camera switched back to Adama, and he calls out "Restart the clock, thirty-three minutes", Gaeta is in the background, going to parade rest again. When the camera switches back to Lt. Gaeta, he turns and opens the clock face in front of him. When the camera refocuses on Adama, Gaeta is in the background, opening the clock face again.

TRIVIA

Sci-Fi Channel offered the entire episode #1.1, "33", uncut and commercial-free from its Web site, along with deleted scenes. It was taken down roughly a year later and replaced by the entire season finale episode #1.13 "Kobol's Last Gleaming", in anticipation of Season 2.
Won 'Hugo Award' for Dramatic Presentation, Short Form at the World Science Fiction Convention, Interaction, at Glasgow, UK (Scotland), in August 2005.
The pilots in the briefing room touch a picture of a man looking out at the destruction of his city. Although not explained in the episode that aired, the picture was introduced in a scene cut from the episode where it was presented to President Roslin ('Mary McDonnell'). It was supposed to have been taken on the roof of the capitol building in Aerilon City during the Cylon attack. Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore said that the picture was inspired by the famous picture of the fireman raising the American flag at the World Trade Center site in New York City following the terrorist attacks on the USA of 11 September 2001.
